Salone del Mobile 2018 - Enlightening Uniqueness
During the Salone del Mobile 2018, which concluded on 21st of April, Barovier&Toso participated as a partner and principal sponsor of the “MonteNapoleone Design Experience 2018”, a week-long event organised in the exclusive district of via Monte Napoleone, during which international visitors, together with the regular frequenters of one of Milan’s most famous streets, were able to enjoy a completely new experience and be dazzled by wonderful installations.
For the occasion, Barovier&Toso created a jewel showcase, a large black box set on the road with narrow windowed slits which allowed passers-by to approach and discover a mysterious sight unlike anything they had seen before: a large chandelier made from Murano glass, embellished with sparkling “rostrati” or glass points, which seemed to hover above an expanse of rippling water representing the water of the Venetian lagoon. Water is vitally important for an ancient art like glassmaking which Barovier&Toso has developed and handed down from generation to generation for six hundred years.
The Venezia 1295 chandelier was in place for a whole week, during which it was viewed by thousands of passers-by curious to see this strange installation. Shading their eyes against the daylight, they pressed up to the glass walls of the box to get a better glimpse of this breathtaking piece.
