For the 2025 edition of the Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens, Joey Leicht brings his creative vision to one of the estate’s most sophisticated rooms: the Salon. A refined reinterpretation of the traditional American parlor, the space has been conceived as a setting for conviviality and quiet reflection alike where each detail contributes to a sense of balance between historic legacy and contemporary sensibility. The focal point is the Amsterdam chandelier by Barovier&Toso, placed at the center of the room in a perfectly symmetrical arrangement that conveys both grace and formal precision. Its soft, ambient glow gently radiates through the space, casting reflections on the golden accents of the furnishings and the wall paneling, and enhancing the atmosphere with warmth and understated opulence. The project takes place within Pembroke Lodge, a Georgian-style residence built in 1895 by Henry Ives Cobb and later enriched by the contributions of David Adler and Frances Elkins, whose visionary interventions helped shape the home’s current identity. With a thoughtful approach, the Salon integrates seamlessly into the architectural narrative of the house, preserving its historic charm while imbuing it with a renewed, contemporary spirit.
