On the occasion of Milano Design Week 2025, Barovier&Toso celebrates its 730th anniversary with Alchemic Jewels, a display project, curated by Nichetto Studio, that expresses the essence of the brand through the alchemy of glass and the value of Murano craftsmanship. The concept is developed through an exhibition path involving three key locations: Euroluce at Salone del Mobile (pav. 6, booth A23 B18), the monobrand showroom in Milan and the boutique in Venice. “Alchemic Jewels” is an expression that encapsulates all the magic and craftsmanship of Barovier&Toso. Alchemic recalls the ancient art of transforming raw materials into something extraordinary, just as sand becomes glass through fire, water and air. Jewels, on the other hand, emphasizes the preciousness and uniqueness of each creation, made with a mastery that has been handed down through generations. Together, these two words evoke the essence of Barovier&Toso: each piece is a jewel of design and tradition, a work of art born from a process that is as magical as it is unique.

Euroluce

The concept of Barovier&Toso’s stand at Euroluce-designed by Nichetto Studio-draws inspiration from Venetian architecture. Venice, the symbolic city from which everything originates, is not only a physical place, but a continuous source of inspiration, a starting point to tell the story of the evolution of glass: from shapeless organic matter, shaped by fire, water and air, to becoming, thanks to the wisdom of master glassmakers, an artifact with precise and extraordinarily refined shapes. Venice, with its water reflections and unique light, is the brand’s eternal muse. The elements of the booth recall this inspiration: surfaces that play with transparency, shapes that evoke the organic elegance of glass in its malleability, and installations that celebrate glass as art. The goal is to transform each space into a visual narrative, from gallery to museum, offering a journey through the brand’s history and craftsmanship excellence. The stand is divided into three main areas: the outdoor portico, inspired by the Procuratie of St. Mark’s Square, with modular light installations, a gallery dedicated to the brand’s new collections and most iconic products, and a meeting room designed for exclusive meetings and presentations.

The outdoor space, conceived as a large portico, welcomes visitors to an area reminiscent of ancient artisan workshops, allowing a direct view of Barovier&Toso creations even from the outside. The flooring, with black-and-white squared patterns, is inspired by the typical decorations of Italian piazzas, and Venice in particular. Walking around the perimeter of the booth, one can admire the five iconic display cases, again signed by Nichetto Studio, that have decorated the Venice monobrand boutique over the past year. In order of appearance we find: - “Flora & Flutter,” a garden of leafy plants in intense liquid cedar-colored Venetian crystal; - “Burning Light,” dedicated to the element of fire with the iconic 4607 chandelier deconstructed within a bright orange setting; - “Water’s Edge,” on the theme of water with the Diamante and Bollibolle vases in an unprecedented navy blue hue; - “Breath of Gold,” a tribute to the technique and history of mouth-blowing glass starring the new collection of vases; - “Cups of Joy,” an off-scale reproduction of Barovier&Toso’s wedding cup dating back to 1450, a symbol of the brand’s heritage, set with some of the details of the workmanship and presented together with a limited edition of the sculpture Fenice. The exterior arcade, moreover, is interspersed with some red-colored elements, organic shapes inspired by the incandescent material of glass freshly extracted from the furnace. These elements also serve as a support for the logo, becoming an integral part of the visual communication.

Along the arcade are a series of striking scenic installations by Barovier&Toso Design Department, based on structures composed of cables that, like luminous waterfalls, descend from the ceiling, creating an evocative atmosphere. The cables accommodate various glass modules, including spheres and leaves. Some of these elements take up already well-known designs, such as “Exagon,” “Hanami,” and “Germogli,” while others will be presented for the first time.

The interior gallery represents the beating heart of the brand’s narrative, an evocative path that alternates between the latest creations and timeless icons. A distinctive element of this space is the presence of a series of refined caskets on an upper scale, inspired by the precious caskets of high-end jewelry. Resting on a soft velvet cushion, inside are semi-finished glass pieces, displayed alongside the finished products to emphasize the uniqueness and preciousness of each creation. Two iconic works dominate the scene: a specimen of the Venezia 1295 chandelier in an unprecedented and fascinating shade of Antalia green and the Bissa Boba hanging lamp in bluish, chosen for their chromatic intensity and their ability to tell the essence of Barovier&Toso, in which color is an integral part of its DNA. The choice of such vibrant nuances emphasizes the magic of glassmaking, creating a visually striking scenographic effect.

Within the booth, a reserved space is dedicated to the meeting room, an exclusive environment accessible by invitation only. Wrapped in refined shades of pink, this area hosts an elegant selection of iconic pieces: two Taif chandeliers, a Veronese table lamp and some elements of the Domus Ginori collection in a special pink shade.

New products.

Among the main new products, Barovier&Toso presents three new collections. Agave, born from a collaboration with Garcìa Cumini, takes the fluid and harmonious lines of the plant of the same name and transforms them into sophisticated light suspensions. Its iconic elongated leaf recalls Barovier&Toso’s glassmaking tradition and is enriched by the dew technique, which enhances its brilliance and three-dimensional texture.

Midtown (design Barovier&Toso) is inspired by early 20th-century architecture and Manhattan skyscrapers of the 1920s and 1930s. The design is distinguished by a disjointed geometry created by the juxtaposition of plates of crystal of different sizes, made of plate. The surfaces have vertical and horizontal grooves, giving the crystal a ridged texture that can preserve the intensity of the light source with a slight diffused effect.

Finally, Webb (design Barovier&Toso), which revolves around the hexagonal, diamond-tipped Venetian crystal base module embellished with the dew technique capable of giving the crystal an irregular texture, introducing new compositional possibilities thanks to backlit elements that enhance the versatility of the design.

Barovier&Toso brings its vision of bespoke and its ability to create custom installations to the Salone del Mobile. The star of the reception will be Nebula, a majestic installation composed of curved glass plates with different finishes, forming a wave of light that extends to the floor. Present in the booth, Aspen and Icaro tell the poetic language of light and matter: the former, an evocation of crystalline leaves dancing in the air, is composed of five lobes radiating from the center of each crystal leaf, hinting at natural ripples; the latter recalls a dynamic play of feathers in motion, in which transparencies and chromatics create unique effects.

In addition, Barovier&Toso strengthens brand communication through tools designed for industry professionals, including a technical Workbook catalog, the Highlights volume, which collects bestsellers and new releases.

Villa Héritage

In parallel with its presence at Euroluce, Barovier&Toso will also be featured in the Villa Héritage project (Pav. 13-15), an exclusive collateral exhibition within the Salone del Mobile, curated by Pierre-Yves Rochon for the A Luxury Way exhibition itinerary. The project celebrates design as a timeless language, capable of connecting past and future through a contemporary sensibility. The installation develops around the shape of the square and proposes a multisensory experience, where each room represents a chapter of a story between art and design. Villa Héritage presents itself as a real mansion, inspired by Palladian architecture, with an exterior portico and several interior rooms. Within this exclusive setting, some of Barovier&Toso’s most iconic works have been selected to best express the elegance and refinement of art glass. Among the works on display are two examples of the 4607 chandeliers, one placed inside the Winter Garden, and another in the Dining Room, the latter featuring an exclusive blue decoration. The Spade collection, with suspension and wall sconce, embellishes the bathroom, while a special installation with the Swing model is the protagonist of a scenic installation along a seven-meter corridor.

The Milan and Venice showrooms

On the occasion of the Fuorisalone, Barovier&Toso presents a new installation in line with the display concept of Alchemic Jewels in the single-brand showroom in Milan and in the boutique in Venice, also curated by Nichetto Studio. Inside the showroom on Via Durini in Milan, the showcases are designed to highlight the new collections, with particular attention to Agave and Midtown, playing with light and transparencies to create a dialogue between the product and its environment. In the showcase on the right, the protagonist will be an oversized jewel box containing glass semis and a red organic shaped element, inspired by the glowing material of glass just taken out of the furnace. Both of these elements refer back to the stand set up at the Salone del Mobile fair, creating a fil rouge that ideally connects the brand’s three locations, from Euroluce to the showrooms in the heart of Milan and Venice. In fact, the Venice Boutique also takes up the same theme, proposing the red organic shape element inspired by incandescent glass and the jewel-boxes in different sizes.
