Located in the historic heart of Bucharest, Villa Plantelor is a striking example of late XIX-century bourgeois architecture, recently restored to its original grandeur. Built in 1891, the residence has undergone a meticulous renovation aimed not only at preserving its heritage but at transforming it into a vibrant cultural hub. Designed by Icon Studio of Architecture, the project blends architectural conservation with a contemporary sensibility. The interiors, curated by Sorina Mirea, reflect a refined balance between historical memory and modern living, where light plays a defining role. Barovier&Toso creations were integrated in a bespoke manner, acting as scenic yet never intrusive elements, able to engage with the villa’s identity and the unique character of each space. In one of the salons, the Venezia 1295 chandelier in gold Venetian crystal was chosen to enhance the decorative essence of the room, echoing and elevating the composed elegance of its original stuccoes and frescoes. Light thus becomes an integral part of the project’s vocabulary, shaping the atmosphere and reinforcing the visual storytelling of the interiors.
